Sunday, October 25th, 2009

The new buzz around the health world in getting a body detox. Because of the toxic build up in our bodies, getting clean on the inside is a must. A typical American has years of poor eating habits, exposed to poor air quality, and has low fiber diets. Also, stress can attribute to the increase of toxins being formed in our bodies. A toxic build up in our bodies may increase the risk of sickness and disease, so it is essential that our bodies properly eliminate the toxic build up in our colon and other organs.

These toxins affect adversely the functioning of our body organs, especially the functioning of vital organs such as the liver, the kidneys, and the colon. A toxic colon eventually leads to a toxic liver, which pollutes the tissues and the bloodstream, resulting in poor health. So you can see for your body to function optimally, it must be freed from toxins.

How Do I Know I Need A Body Cleansing?

You need to take action if you have one or more of the following problems. Constipation, diarrhea, fatigue and low energy, hemorrhoids, gas and bloating, excess weight, food allergies, impaired digestion, recurring headaches, protruding belly, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Candida infections, bad breath and foul smelling stools, and metallic taste in mouth are only some of the symptoms.

Just like you external body needs cleaning on a regular basis, you also need a regular cleaning inside your body. Dont wait until your experience any harsh symptoms. The longer your body is exposed to putrefying food in your intestines, the greater the risk of developing more serious problem like cancer and immune system dysfunctions.

Our bodies are over stressed and exposed to a lot more toxins than in the past. It is becoming impossible to eliminate all the different toxins and chemicals we ingest or inhale on a daily basis. Over time, these toxins will accumulate in our cells, tissues, organs, blood resulting in a variety of health issues. I hope you can now see that you can drastically enhance your health by simply getting a regular body cleansing.

The Law of Attraction and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Irritable Bowel Syndrome affects up to 20% of people globally. IBS symptoms are pains in the abdomen associated with altered bowel pattern and bloating. In addition there can be rectal symptoms such as irritation and urgency. Sometimes non-colonic symptoms can develop.

Treatments of IBS fall into four categories. These are patient education, dietary modification, medication, and behaviour and psychological therapy. It is agreed amongst experts that behaviour and psychological therapies provided better long term results.

The law of Attraction suggests that you attract into your life whatever you think about. The simple explanation of the Law of Attraction is that your thoughts determine your destiny. An enormous momentum was built up after “The Secrets”; a documentary film, was shown on Oprah. The Law of Attraction is used effectively for personal growth, financial success and achievements.

In medicine, does the Law of Attraction work? In 2004, a study of 196 young people and 314 elderly subjects associated with rumination and negative thoughts concluded that negative thoughts may be detrimental to health independently of effects. In Reikii, spiritual and personal development and all processes of healing is associated with removing negative Ki (Life Forces) from a person’s energy field, along with negative thoughts and feelings that have created it.

Negative thoughts, following job loss, relationship break ups and poor assessment, affect self-esteem. These people can feel worthless, insignificant, unsure and easily defeated. A person with high self-esteem has positive thoughts and their level of success is determined by these thoughts.

In Irritable Bowel Syndrome, does the Law of Attraction apply? What information is given to a person when first diagnosed with IBS? There are some common ones. No one is quite sure why you have IBS. There is no single treatment that works for everyone. There is no abnormality in your gut. There is no cure. Stress plays an important role in IBS. You have to live with it. It is also an established fact that most IBS sufferers do not get adequate support from their health professionals.

All these facts are negative. Is it not likely that they can lead to negative thoughts in the minds of IBS patients and produce negative effects? Treatments that focus on the mind are now recommended by experts. These include psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). “Patients who have ongoing IBS symptoms might benefit from a simple, early intervention of CGT, a means of changing thought processes from negative to positive that has been shown to be helpful.” Said Moss-Morris at the University of Southampton At the State University of New York, Dr. J. Lackner reported that there was an improvement in 73% of patients with IBS after four short sessions of CGT and home study manual given to patients.

When an IBS patient tries a new treatment, expectation may well create significant improvement. This improvement is short lived because in the mind, there is fixed the thought that there is no cure.

There are cases of refractory Irritable Bowel Syndrome patients after having gut directed hypnotherapy living normal lives, eating foods that were previously triggers. No treatment is effective in refractory IBS. Negative thoughts are plucked out of the subconscious mind during hypnotherapy and postive thoughts are added. The Law of Attraction is at work here. Ingrained negative thoughts created negative effects in refractory IBS. After hypnotherapy, positive thoughts produced positive effects.

If you believe in the Law of Attraction, how can you use it to change the course of your IBS? Keep the positives in the forefront of your mind. Make them your reality and eventually your thoughts and feelings. In IBS there are many positives. There is no abnormality in your gut. Your IBS will not lead on to other illnesses. If stress is a trigger, you can control it. You can improve your IBS by getting a better balance in your life. You can lead a full life even though you have IBS. Whatever IBS treatment you are on, keep your dreams and aspirations positive.

Don’t Pass This By! Here’s The Help With Anxiety You Were Asking For!

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

The cause of anxiety is well established. When enough stress is presented to the physical-mental-emotional body, nervous behaviors are likely to surface. Worry and excessive thought can interfere with preparation of rest and sleep. When the internal organs do not have enough energy then they will create disturbing sensations such as palpitations, spasms, high blood pressure, restless leg, etc. due to depleted energy. Take care of yourself, remove distractions from rest, exercise, be around caring people until you can master the challenges you are confronted with. Eat nutritious food and take natural herbs that don’t add to the imbalance but rather help in re-establishing your center. Consider working with a counselor/pychotherapist to find alternatives to your current anxiety management strategies.

Here is a key component to manage a comprehensive perspective. Food preferences known to minimize the internal environment of anxiety.

ANXIETY FREE DIET

Foods to Counter Anxiety: Apricot, Cherry, Date, Fig, Grape, Grapefruit, Olive, Papaya, Peach, Strawberry, Tomato, Beet, Button mushroom, Cabbage, Carrot, Celery, Chard, Cucumber, Eggplant, Kuzu, Lettuce, Potato, Shitake mushroom, Spearmint, Squash, Sweet Potato, Yam, Almond, Chestnut, Coconut, Sesame seed/oil, Sunflower seed, Amasake, stevia, Agave nectar, Ganoderm, Dill, Basil, Mulberry, Lemons, Brown rice, Oats, Ghee, Green tea

Foods to Avoid: Beef, Tofu, Tempeh, Soy milk, Spinach, Miso, Asparagus, , Millet, Salt, Seaweed, Tangerine, Pinenut, Persimmon, Pear, Honey, Sugar, Oyster, Clam, Mussel, Pork, Peanut

Processed Foods to Avoid: Artificial Sweeteners, Coffee, Wine (beyond 1 oz. per day), Baked Beans (sugar), Baked Goods (doughnuts, cakes contain excess trans fats, sugars), Breakfast Cereals (sugar, processed grain, low nutrition), Campbell’s Condensed Soups (hi sodium), pot pies (hi calory/fat), Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) foods, Hotdogs (unknown ingredients, sodium nitrate), Luncheon Meats (too many additives, sodium nitrate), Margarine (highly toxic), Ramen Noodles (no nutrients, excess sodium), Refined Vegetable Oils (corn, cottonseed, soybeans, safflower seeds and canola), Saltines (excess carb & sodium), Sausages & cured meats (too many additives, sodium nitrate), White & Wheat bread (no nutrition), White Pasta (extremely hi carb & sodium), White Potatoes (solanine-calcium depletion & arthritic pain), Chips & French fries, Cocktails (excess sugar/liver toxicity), Fruit Juice (loaded w/ sugar), Fruit Smoothie (loaded w/ syrup, make your own), Dairy products except goat’s milk (pure mucous), Sodas (removes rust from metal, excess carbon dioxide, imbalances digestive system), Excessive Protein (loss of calcium, damages kidneys)

When I had an anxiety attack, I didn’t know about nutrition and herbology and at that time, I could not imagine that traditional Chinese herbs would have been effective with other modalities of treatment. In a stressed-out condition, there is a need for quick and strong relief. Longevity is founded on healthy foods, herbs and natural medicinal approaches to health and balance.

Individual Constitution will affect outcomes from all foods. Accordingly, a cold body type person needs to avoid cold foods that makes you cold. If they do, pain will show up, wherever one feels cold. Sluggish body function continues in pattern. But in general the above selection benefits most people. To become healthy, it is highly recommended to meet with an Asian medicine-Master Herbalist who will provide a customized assessment. Notice I didn’t say accupuncturist. It is very important to find someone who specializes in Chinese herbs or herbology  and food therapy regarding customized food and herb strategies.

Anxiety relief can be found naturally with food therapy & traditional Chinese herbs.

Targets Of Glycemic Food Index

Glycemic Food Index Ideal: Getting Started Is The Tough Part

Few would argue with the fact that the right glycemic food dietis a hard act to beat. If you are fortunate enough to think up a good glycemic food index idea you will then be able to look beyond considering glycemic index foods as being faddish foods and instead be able to act sensibly and do something right that will help you shed unwanted pounds of flab while also being able to maintain the ideal body weight.

Keep It Simple

In fact, there is nothing really special about a glycemic food index idea because it is simple in its concept and does not require much more than to choose the foods that figure low on the glycemic index chart which in turn ensures that you will get to consume healthy foods that won’t spike up your blood sugar levels and cause illnesses such as diabetes or heart conditions.

With the help of the right glycemic food index idea you can ensure that your body gets a constant supply of healthy foods that will give the body more energy, ensure less flab and will also allow for calmer functioning of the main systems within the body. Obviously, any glycemic food index idea that comes to mind must have to first lay priority on the need to absorb low glycemic index value foods while at the same time also making you want to shun foods that have a high glycemic index value.

In fact, the right glycemic food index idea will ensure that you will get to feel satisfied both in the mind and in the body and that you also won’t need to act in a manner that suggests that you just want to satisfy an unstoppable desire to consume more sugary foods. There no doubts the fact that low glycemic index foods help ensure that you don’t crave for sugar while also ensuring that your blood sugar levels do not also rise.

Of course, the hard part about coming up with the right glycemic food index idea is formulating a concept that will work for you. It is common that you will, at first, feel confused about which foods are good for you and which are not though with a little bit of research and selective thinking you will be able to identify the allowable foods while learning to avoid those foods that are harmful to the body.

You will of course have to decide between opting for low GI diet and a low carb diet. The fact of the matter is that with diets such as Atkins and South Beach you might easily lose your focus and opt for these instead of trusting the glycemic index. But, doing so would not do you as much good as would focusing on the benefits of the glycemic index and making it your standard to help you create the right diet.

Beware of Central Sleep Apnea!

Monday, September 28th, 2009

You may already know that the term sleep apnea refers to any cessation of breathing during sleep; apnea means a loss of breath and so sleep apnea is when a person stops breathing when asleep. However one of the most dangerous forms of this condition is central sleep apnea, where the body fails to signal the lungs to inhale on a regular basis. When a person doesn’t inhale as they should this means they’re not getting oxygen on a regular cycle as the body needs. This regular cycle of oxygen is so important that the body can and does force itself to breathe even if you consciously try to hold your breath. Central sleep apnea musn’t be ignored.

During periods of central sleep apnea, the heart will respond to this lack of oxygen intake by increasing the heart rate, causing stress and strain to the heart muscles. When you exercise you heart rate speeds up which is good for you but this is not the same. An increased heart rate during exercise is always accompanied by breathing oxygen in and carbon dioxide out, but not so with central sleep apnea! The heart is having to work harder but it is doing so without oxygen which can be very damaging.

It’s believed that central sleep apnea can trigger seizures in the patient. This is caused by the sudden drop in blood oxygen levels, and this occurs whether the person has a seizure disorder or not. Other problems that can arise due to central sleep apnea can include heart attacks and angina. Additionally, the lack of regular breathing that occurs with any form of sleep apnea can result in a buildup of carbon dioxide in the bloodstream which means blood poisoning.

As with central sleep apnea, all forms of sleep apnea should be addressed as quickly and effectively as possible. Obese people need to bring their weight down. A snore pillow can keep the head from falling back and the tongue from blocking the throat and airway. Having a humidifier in the bedroom is good for keeping the sinuses clear. In severe cases, especially when dealing with central sleep apnea, a CPAP machine can keep oxygen pumping into the body at regular intervals. At any rate, this is not a condition to be ignored or dismissed but should be addressed!

What Happens During an Asthma Attack?

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Asthma is an increasingly common health condition in modern society. You’ve almost certainly heard of it. But unless you actually suffer from the problem, you might not know what actually transpires during an asthma attack. If you’ve just been diagnosed with the condition, here are some facts you should know.

There are several typical symptoms of an asthma attack. These include coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. It’s a serious situation, and can lead to death if untreated.

What causes an asthma attack? It’s different for everyone. Some of the most common triggers are allergens such as dust, pollution, pollen, cigarette smoke and perfume. Indeed, allergies and asthma often go hand in hand. There are also other factors that can set off an asthma attack, including exercise, cold air, pressure changes, and viral infections.

An asthma attack takes place within the air passage to your lungs. The opening and closing of your airways are controlled by a specific muscle. It’s completely reflexive, so you can’t control it voluntarily. However, it can be caused to tighten by certain irritants or external conditions, as mentioned earlier. If you suffer from asthma, the muscle tends to overreact to the irritants, and you’ll experience an asthma attack.

When the muscle tightens, the airway narrows. As well, a build up of mucus takes place, and at the same time the lining becomes inflamed and starts to swell. Normally, mucus in the airways is perfectly natural since it assists in the movement of air into the lungs. But when you’re experiencing an asthma attack, the production of mucus increases, thereby filling the air passages.

This sticky mucus makes it very difficult to breathe. The asthma attack won’t end until the mucus is cleared away. So it’s essential that you manage your symptoms quickly with a medication that has been prescribed by your doctor.

Sometimes an attack will last just a few minutes. A severe attack, though, can go on for hours or days. There will be intervals where you might not experience any symptoms, but they will soon return if you don’t receive the proper medication.

It’s important to check with your doctor right away if you think you have asthma. He or she will run some tests to diagnose the situation. As well, they’ll try to figure out what’s triggering the attacks. Once you know what your triggers are, it’s essential that you avoid them as much as possible. You’ll need to work closely with your doctor and follow the prescribed asthma treatments if you want to prevent future attacks. Never ignore the symptoms, because an asthma attack can be life threatening.

Your Choices in Hearing Aid Batteries

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Hearing aid batteries are a vital part of the hearing aid itself. None of the electronic parts will work without being powered by the battery. In fact, they’re so important that a lot of people who wear a hearing aid keep a hearing aid battery tester handy. That way they can tell when the battery is beginning to run out of power. Then they will know to have other batteries on hand to replace it.

The length of time that hearing aid batteries will last depends on the style of hearing aid being worn. The smaller hearing aids that fit into the ear canal have a shorter battery life. That’s because the batteries are smaller and contain less of the substances required to produce power.

The older, more traditional kind of hearing aids utilized mercury batteries to keep them going. These batteries are much less effective than the newer zinc batteries that are popular these days.

Zinc batteries utilize zinc air. This is a mixture of oxygen in the air along with the zinc present inside the battery. This produces a reaction that powers the battery. They have about twice the life of the conventional mercury batteries.

You’ll find that zinc hearing aid batteries have a color coded tab. One purpose for this is to be able to tell what size the battery is. However, it also prevents air from entering the battery until you’re ready to start using it.

As soon as the tab is pulled off, oxygen starts to enter the battery. The battery will activate once the zinc and oxygen combine. So it’s important that you don’t pull off the tab before you need to start using the battery. You don’t want it to start losing life before it’s even in use.

Most hearing aids today use one of four different sizes of batteries that are readily available. Every size of hearing aid has a certain size of battery that fits it. The smallest size is color coded with yellow and is labeled a ten. The largest size is 675 and is labeled in blue. Digital hearing aids that fit inside the ear canal typically use the smaller sizes. The large sizes are used for the behind the ear hearing aids. You can buy hearing aid batteries just about anywhere where they sell hearing aids online.

The bigger sizes can contain a greater amount of zinc inside them, and therefore last longer. However, they are a lot more bulky. Many people would rather change the battery more often and have a less noticeable hearing aid.

Which Hearing Aid is Best for You?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

The fact is that as our population ages, hearing aids are becoming ever more common. However, not all hearing aids are the same. The type of hearing aid that a person needs depends on the amount of hearing loss that they have and what type of a lifestyle that they live. And fortunately, you can buy hearing aids online these days, which makes it so much easier.

Some models of digital hearing aids are completely enclosed inside the ear so you can hardly see them. A lot of people like these because it’s so hard to tell that you’re wearing a hearing aid.

However, these devices are really only suitable for people with minimal hearing loss. As well, there are more limits on the features available, like volume control for example. This can be detrimental in some cases.

Another style of hearing aid fits partially into the ear canal. These models combine the benefits of a volume control unit while still being largely unnoticeable. Some of these devices feature a remote control that helps you control the volume more easily. Because these devices have more options, they can be used by people who have mild to moderately severe hearing loss.

The most common hearing aids are those that go in the ear or behind the ear. The in the ear style of hearing aids rests just inside your ear. Behind the ear styles have two components, one of which fits inside the ear. The volume control and battery units fit behind your ear.

Although these devices are more noticeable to others, they also usually have a longer battery life. Plus they feature more options for control so you can maximize the benefits of this technology.

The basic parts of a hearing aid are the microphone, the amplifier and the speaker. The device’s microphone picks up all the sounds within the immediate vicinity. The amplifier helps to increase the volume of the sound so that you are able to hear it. The speaker is the part that sends the amplified sound into the ear so that you can hear it.

Another basic part is the hearing aid battery. They will need to be replaced from time to time, even in a properly working device. They’re generally quite inexpensive. Depending on the particular kind you need, they generally cost between four and seven dollars.

Use this information to help you decide which is the best hearing aid for your needs and your budget.
