Self-Move or Hire a Moving Company: Which is Right for You?

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Long distance moves are typically more complicated than local moves. A lot of people find that moving a long distance can be confusing and disorienting, because there’s often so much going on. Fortunately, there are methods that can help you stay in control of the situation. One of these ways, which I will discuss more in a little bit, is to use a one-way truck rental.

The ability to find a mover can make a big difference. That’s because professional movers can load your belongings into the truck, so you don’t have to take responsibility for the process. And if you also allow the moving service to do the packing for you, your work will be minimal. Remember, though, if you use professional movers, you won’t be able to  control what they do with your items.

There’s really only one way to control every aspect of a move: getting a rental truck. That would literally put you in the driver’s seat. At a minimum, you’d have full knowledge of how your items are packed and handled. By being in charge of your own moving process, you’d be able to verify that your fragile items are well cared for. Managing your own move also means that you’ll save money. Managing your own move would also allow you to save money through the use of bargain packing materials, such as boxes you can find at grocery stores. Its also possible to protect your furniture and valuables by wrapping them in old sheets and towels. By taking control of the situation, you would no longer be forced to use expensive materials that professional movers use by default.

So if you’re curious about the best way to relocate or even thinking about moving companies in Connecticut or moving services, then one-way truck rentals can actually offer the easiest, cheapest and least stressful way to go. Depending on how busy you are, you might find that controlling your own move is actually easier than hiring a moving company. People are pretty used to thinking that moving has to be hard or stressful but it doesn’t necessarily have to be that way. But be sure to plan wisely, though, because starting with the correct decisions is the best way to end your move with a smile on your face.

Avoid Anxiety by Working with a Professional Relocation Company

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Do you feel a lot of anxiety when you think about moving? And does the idea of requesting help from friends and family cause you to feel even more anxious? If the first two questions ring a bell, you might want to consider getting a professional moving service. A licensed, professional moving service can help by providing experience that will reduce the hassle often associated with moving.

If you decide to look into the particulars of self moving, just remember that new equipment and clean appearance don’t necessarily equate to providing good relocation services. Many high-quality moving services do their jobs very well without the use of the newest equipment. Sometime their overall job quality is even higher than that of moving services with more visually appealing trucks and equipment. So whether you’re looking for a moving company in Colorado or need moving help in Denver Colorado or any other location, it doesn’t matter. Quality will beat appearance every time.

It can be frustrating to have clean-cut workers show up at your house with a shiny, brand-new truck and then have absolutely no idea how to handle fragile items or pack them efficiently and with care. In the end, the overall appearance of your movers is far less important than their integrity, diligence and experience. You can’t get information about job performance quality simply from looking at trucks and uniforms. That’s why it’s critical to get references and referrals from people who have used their services.

Most professional movers will include a list of references along with their job estimates. Make sure to call these past clients and ask whether the company’s employee’s were honest, careful and treated their belongings well. Also, read the fine print in the estimate. It will often reveal additional fees that can be charged, as well as disclaimers regarding lost or stolen property. You can save yourself a world of trouble in the future if you take these steps beforehand. No matter what you do, don’t sign that contract unless you’re confident the company will do the job you need them to do!

Keeping your family connected

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

A family focused on a common goal, works together and talks together. Family projects bring all family members closer. Whether you choose to watch the night sky together, create a garden (large or small!), or put together a time capsule, you will enjoy the camaraderie and conversation that develops.

Here are some great family project ideas that you might want to adopt – and who knows, some of these may well become a family tradition before too long.

SPOTTING SATELLITES

Did you know that there are over eight thousand artificial objects orbiting Earth? Over 2,500 are satellites, operative and inoperative while the remaining objects are orbital debris: parts such as nosecone shrouds, lenses, hatch covers, rocket bodies, and even objects that ‘escape’ from manned spacecraft during operations.

To spot satellites, grab a few lawn chairs and head for the garden. Depending on the evening you choose, you will see from one of many satellites passing overhead. These could range from communications satellites, to space trash. They look somewhat like really bright stars, passing overhead in a straight path. The first hour or so after sun down is the best time to spot them. There still has to be enough light in the sky for the satellites to reflect it – so dusk is the best time. When you spot a satellite log what you see and keep a family record.

MAKE A COLORING BOOK

Make coloring books together. Print coloring pages from the Internet and create coloring books for relatives, friends, nephews, nieces or even for yourselves to be put away for a rainy day. You could also keep a book or two aside as something for younger children to do when they visit your home.

You really can’t go wrong if you create a Disney coloring book because children of all ages love the many Disney characters from Mulan to Mickey Mouse and from Goofy to Mowgli. To get you started, at sites like Disney Coloring Pages you’ll find many Disney printables to print and collate.

Next, create a cover sheet that reads something like, ‘The Smith Family Coloring Book’ and perhaps add ‘To’ and ‘From’ if you plan to give it as a gift.

CONTAINER GARDENS

Container (terrarium) gardens are an ideal project for families living in the Gulf – indoor gardening is much more bearable than the outdoor variety at this time of year. Shopping for plants together on a cool evening and choosing a suitable container are all part of the fun. Because terrariums recycle their moisture, they need very little ‘gardening’ and care – and they actually thrive on neglect!

Any clear container can be made into a terrarium; the main requirement is that it be watertight. Choose something that is sufficiently large to accommodate the plants, and has a cover or lid to keep the moisture from escaping. Jars, aquariums and large glass or plastic bottles are some of the more common containers used. To begin your garden place a 2cm layer of small gravel (small pebbles) on the bottom of the container and top it with a good potting soil. The number of plants you place in the garden will depend on both the size of the receptacle and that of the plants. Plants such as miniature African violets, Aeschynanthus, Podocarpus and Fittonia thrive in containers, as do very small ferns and creeping figs. Try not to over plant and leave space for the plants to grow. Water your garden only very lightly and stand back to admire your work.

PRESERVE THE PAST

A time capsule can be a great family project to commemorate a special occasion. Fill it with photographs and mementos and then decide how long you would like to put it away for. For instance, is it something you’ll want to look at in 5 or 15 years time? The next step is to choose a container and location for said box.

Any waterproof, airtight and preferably fireproof container will do, there are even websites that will ship custom-made time capsules to you. If your stay at your current location is temporary then it is understood that the time capsule is best not buried in the garden! Ask everyone in the family to contribute a few items – clippings, photographs, drawings, hand prints, letters, arts and crafts, toys or just about anything else that fits into the capsule. Mark everything you add very clearly so you or others will know where each item came from and who included it.   Finally, fill the capsule, seal it, and then put it out of sight and out of mind.

PAINT!

From an arts and craft supplier purchase a large canvas and a set of acrylic paints. Divide the canvas into 4, 5 or more sections depending on the number of people in your family. Use masking tape to ‘fence off’ each area and mark each square or rectangle lightly in pencil with the name of the artist for that area, for example Mum, Dad, etc.

So that you don’t crowd each other, it’s best that just two family members paint at a time. The effect is striking if only four complementing colors are used and if each person fills their area completely with paint, using stripes, zigzags, dots or whatever pattern they like best. When the painting is complete, and this may take more than one week-end, ensure it is dry before removing the masking tape – then marvel at your modern art and hang!

FOSTER A PUPPY OR KITTEN

Our family has done this many times and we all have fond and happy memories of each little guest. Animal Welfare Charities are always in need of foster homes and are happy when puppies and kittens go to families with children because to say that an animal has lived in a family environment is a great ‘selling’ point when a permanent home is sought.

TRACE YOUR FAMILY TREE

If you have little knowledge about your ancestors, a few old photographs and a consuming curiosity, make tracing your family tree a family project.

Enter your ancestor information at www.familytreesearcher.com and it will search family trees at eight online databases. This free service will create the best family tree searches based on your ancestry – the site also includes hints for researching your family tree further.

SLOW FOOD

Instead of heading for your favorite fast-food restaurant this week-end, stay home and prepare some slow-food together. If you really want to make it into a project you could even shop for the groceries together.

Even the youngest member of a family can help prepare a meal – a toddler can shake a salad mix together, wash potatoes and other vegetables and even help to set the table.

GAMES NIGHT

Take the phone off the hook, turn off the television, bring out a board game and what do you have? An evening of fun and laughter that brings the whole family closer together. Family game nights are a wonderful way to spend quality time and create a family tradition that you and your kids will remember and cherish for years to come.  To make it extra special, add snacks, invite guests, hold tournaments and always display the winner’s name on the fridge!

Here are some favorite games to consider:

Ages 6-8: Sorry!, Monopoly Jr., Clue Jr., Scrabble Jr. and card games such as UNO.

Ages 8-10: All the above plus the Game of Life, Monopoly, Jenga and Frustration.

Ages 10-12: All the above plus Scrabble, Yahtzee, Cluedo and Pictionary.

Ages 13 and up: All the above plus Boggle, Atmosfear (teenagers love this DVD board game), Risk, Trivial Pursuit and card games such as Rummy.

School, work, phones, homework, playstations, internet, television, friends – let’s be honest – every family gets pulled in a million directions. Set aside some quality family time and pull yourselves together! Talk with each other and keep your precious family connected!

What you get from a hybrid golf club set is a newer breed of clubs that is specifically designed to improve your golf game.  Specifically, they are a blending of the strengths of traditional types of golf clubs.  Generally, those two components of a golf club that are combined together are the shaft of the golf club and the head of the golf club.

So what you get with a hybrid golf clubs that is a club that makes use of a shorter shaft, and any golf head that is flatter and less bulgy.  In most instances you end up with a drive that is a lot more controlled giving you more distance and accuracy.

These clubs are also manufactured so that they have a center of gravity that is lower than ordinary clubs. Not only is this center of gravity lower but it is positioned more to the back of the clubs head.  All of these components work together to give you the potential of having a significant lift when you launch your golf ball.

If you choose to make your purchase online, it is really important that you consider a number of things.  You need to make sure that the website you are making the purchase from is a trusted source, and you need to make sure that the quality of the product is good as well.

In addition, if shopping on line, it is important to do comparison shopping on the various hybrid golf clubs.  Some things you need to compare are the  materials that the clubs are made from, the different pitches and angles of the clubs, as well as whether they are left or a right handed set.  Also, it is beneficial to read various reviews.  Last but not least on this comparison-shopping, is to make sure that you try to get the best price for the product you’re looking at.

Just About Anyone Can Make Easy Craft Projects for Christmas

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Like it or not, Christmas will be here before you know it, so it’s time once again to begin making Christmas crafts, such as homemade ornaments or mobiles. Every new Christmas season allows me to once again be creative! It also means finding new Christmas craft ideas. But that’s a blast, so I kind of look forward to it every year. I’m pretty sure I can gather all the components I need in just a short time.

As a rule my process is to look for antique Christmas clip art that inspires me to create something wonderful. Since this will be a Christmas project, I will limit my searches to Christmas tree clip art. That should be simple, due to the number of Christmas images available on the World Wide Web. It’s also been my past experience that vintage Xmas cards that anyone can find on the World Wide Web make great bases for Christmas craft projects. Since these digital cards already have great Christmas designs, a fun craft project can be created pretty easily.

Another marvelous idea for creating Christmas crafts is to use free Christmas scrapbook embellishments. These include vintage art, paper photo frames, borders and many other fun elements. As an example, dimensional stickers have recently become very popular. Additionally, printed scrapbook papers — whether digital or store-bought — can add sparks of color to the finished product. Card-making professionals also use these papers and embellishments, so it’s proven that their use produces good results. So when you set about making Christmas crafts this upcoming holiday season, remember to go online. Keep things basic and let the art you choose shine through. That will give you a visual advantage from the start and will help you create with ease. A lot of compliments from friends and family will probably result. And if crafts sales are what you’re after, you can be confident that your crafts will be attractive enough to actually make you money.

It Can Be Difficult to Select Your First Golf Set

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

The {different varieties of golf equipment can be a bit confusing for the novice.~With all of the different types and styles of golf equipment out there today it can be quite confusing for somebody just starting out.~There are many different kinds of golf equipment on the market today and for the novice this can be quite confusing.} Because of this fact it is advisable to start off with a golf set for beginners. It makes the decisions easy and need not be too expensive. You as a beginning golfers need to hone your skills, and left time this will surely take place with practice. You shouldn’t take clubs that don’t match your skill level, as you can spend way too much money on something you might not stick with. Instead simply pick clubs that fit into the budget of your skill level.

We are starting, you need to get the basics down first so there isn’t any real reason to buy a lot of different clubs to begin with. For example, a typical Beginner Golf Set may contain a Fairway 3 Wood, 450cc Driver, Irons, Hybrid Wood, a Silver Diamond Putter and a stand bag. There shouldn’t be any more than around 14 clubs. There are some people who prefer to use long irons instead of hybrids, but that’s just a matter of your own preference. Many beginners have hybrids because they do the job of the fairway wood and the long iron in one club.

Selecting the right driver is important, and you need to consider the appropriate loft as well as the shaft flex and the grip. With a regular shaft you’re going to have more flexibility, as opposed to a shaft that has stiff which might be kind of hard to get a decent swing speed with.  Most novices find that the clubs that they tend to use most often are the 7-iron and the pitching wedge. Probably one of the next buys you will make is a sand wedge which is a real benefit to helping you get out of the bunkers. My advice for anyone who is looking to buy, is to look at purchasing cavity back clubs rather than clubs with forged blades. You do have the option though to purchase every piece of equipment you need as a separate item, but you will find much better deals by just buying a beginner golf set. If you keep everything in good condition, you may be able to sell it on when you reach the point where you want to upgrade.

Lots of times you can pick up these golf sets with accessories and extra items, so you want to keep an eye out for deals that might pop up. They almost always come with a basic stand bag. You might also get some tees with the set. There are tons of different brands of golf balls on the market, and of the most expensive brands aren’t going to benefit you as a novice any at all. If you are just beginning, then your main priority is going to be to get a lot of distance from your ball, so choosing the cheaper two-piece ball with a hard center is a really good choice.

When you are the proud owner of your Beginner Golf Set, you need to think about the other items that are needed, if not in the set. Some of the essentials will include a well fitting golf glove, a pair of golf shoes, and a nice set of waterproof clothing. You’re also going to want to get in a bit of extra practice, so you might think of this in addition. A chipping net can provide you with a lot of fun and some good training as well. If you were to pick up a putting machine, rainy days wouldn’t have to keep you from having some golfing fun.

There are a huge number of specialty golf stores that you can pick up these items as well as just regular sports stores and many online merchants too. You could also, if you feel really lucky, join the competition from a golf magazine to see if he could win a beginner golf set, or you can just search the classifieds as lots of people list them there as well.

You can find lots of utility golf clubs by visiting http://www.golfutilityclubs.com

Pet Conies Have Required Essentials

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Caring for a rabbit is a lot different from traditional pets because they have a lot of special needs and requirements that other pets don’t have. So anyone who is thinking of getting a rabbit as a pet should learn proper rabbit care before making a decision. To help get you going in the right direction, I have provided you with some steps:

Hutch

Ideally, your rabbit’s cage should be at least 4 times larger than your rabbit, but bigger is always better especially if it will spend most of its time inside the cage. The floor of the cage should always be solid. Lots of people still use cages that have wire floors in them with removable pads on the bottom as this makes them easier to clean, but these types of cages often cause sores on the rabbits feet and can lead to many problems. If the cage you have has a wire floor, cover it with sisal mats, grass or a piece of wood.

Diet

Rabbits love to eat green this you need to have a supply of grass hay on hand such as brome or timothy. Grass hay helps to ensure that your rabbit stays healthy by keeping its intestinal tract clean. As part of its feed, you will also need to keep a supply of rabbit pellets. Younger rabbits (under 6 months old) should eat pellets that contain at least 18% fiber and 15% to 19% protein. You are also going to need to feed your rabbit things such as collard greens, carrots tops, different types of lettuce, turnip greens, and any other type of dark leafy green vegetable that might come to mind. You need to give your rabbit a minimum of 2 cups leafy green vegetables for every 6 pounds that it weighs. You should always keep fresh water on hand at all times.

Training Your Rabbit to Use the Litter Box

Rabbits tend to litter in one portion of it’s cage. When your rabbit decides which area of its cage it wants to use, you need to fill that area with pelleted newspaper litter, or some type of hay. You need to make sure that you claim it’s litter box each and every day to keep the odors down.

Keeping the Cage Cleaned

Take the time to clean your rabbits cage a minimum of one time a week. When you do this, you need to put your rabbit in another safe place in your house, or an alternate cage. Make sure that you sweep the floor in the cage and remove anything that is solid waste. Whenever you clean and scrub the cage floor, make sure that you use soap and warm water.

Handling

Many rabbits are injured because they are not handled properly. Never pick up a rabbit by its ears. Handle the rabbit carefully using one hand to support it’s front legs and the other hand to support it’s hind legs.

Rabbit Supply

Any rabbit owner must have the following: A hutch or cage, a litter box with litter, a pet carrier, hay for feed, a pet grooming brush, quality rabbit pellet food, some safe chew toys, a digging box, and a food and water dish that is preferably made out of ceramic material.

This If you need to find a good place to buy these items, you can find them all at rabbit cage for sale.
